Manchester United seek more home comforts as they take on Everton on the first anniversary of Ruben Amorim's reign, ushering in Monday Night Football at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have won four consecutive home Premier League games, surpassing their previous 13 at Old Trafford (3 wins, 2 losses, 18 defeats). Their last better streak was from April to August 2023 (eight games).
The Red Devils' improved form this season has been at least partly influenced by their first-half performances, with the highest number of goals scored before half-time (11) in the current campaign, while only Arsenal and Crystal Palace have conceded fewer goals in the first half (4).
On the other hand, Ruben Amorim's side do have the worst second half in terms of goals conceded (14), although they have shown a tougher resilience this season, reflected in their ability to fight back.
In their previous two matches, United opened the scoring, fell behind and then avoided defeat, drawing 2-2 with Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur. As a result, the Red Devils became the first team in the Premier League to achieve this feat since Manchester City in May/August 2012 (3-2 wins over QPR and Southampton). No team has ever done this in three consecutive games.
United has converted a loss into a draw in three of its last four league games, or a draw into a win by scoring a goal late in the game (80th minute or later); it is the third time in Premier League history that it has scored a result-changing goal three times in a four-game span.
Brian Mbewumo has played a part in this, is in top form, and no United player has scored more frequently in the Premier League than him this season (6 goals, 5 goals, 1 assist). However, Everton are the only team the Cameroonian has met more than once in the Premier League without scoring or assisting (8 games).
Everton ended a three-match winless run, beating Fulham 2-0 in their final game before International Day. But the signs are not good for the trip to Old Trafford.
Monday night's playing position is not one in which the Toffees have performed well, having failed to win their last nine Premier League matches since December 2021 (D5, L4) in a 2-1 win over Arsenal.
Similarly, Everton are winless in their last 10 Monday night away games (D4, L6) since September 2016 (3-0) when they beat Sunderland.
Everton boss David Moyes has a poor record against his former hosts, but he has a player under his command who can be an ace on form.
Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish won the August Player of the Month award after delivering four assists from five created chances in his first three Premier League games for Everton this season. Since then he has been a reliable source of creativity, creating 19 chances for his teammates in seven games. None of them have been converted, though.

But while Moyes may think Grealish can make a difference, he doesn't seem to think his squad is filled with a wealth of options. After all, he has used the fewest number of players (19) in the top flight this season.
Luckily for Moyes, he doesn't have too many injuries to contend with. Jarrad Brathwaite remains Everton's only long-term absentee, while Nathan Paterson remains a doubt.
Amorim shouldn't be too much of a concern on the injury front either. Harry Maguire and Benjamin Sesco missed out through injury, failing to feature in United's draw with Tottenham, but Kopi Menu could return to the line-up after missing the Spurs game if he trains on Saturday. Lisandro Martinez could be involved for the first time since suffering a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury in February.
Man Utd vs Everton One-on-One Showdown
Manchester United's 42 Premier League victories against Everton are the most by any team against any other team in the competition.
In fact, Everton have won just one of their last 12 Premier League games against the Red Devils (D5, L6) - a 1-0 home win in April 2022.
They have tasted victory in only one of their last 32 matches against Manchester United at Old Trafford (D8, L23), having won 1-0 in December 2013 as well.
