Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur stats: key insights
- Liverpool need just one point to win the Premier League title.Opta supercomputerThink they have an 87.7% chance of winning on Sunday and a 71.8% chance of sealing victory in style with a win over Tottenham Hotspur.
- Mohamed Salah has scored 15 goals against Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions, and has only scored more against Manchester United (16) in his European club career.
- Tottenham have won just two of their last 24 Premier League games against Liverpool (D6 L16) and both have come at home.
The destination of the Premier League title is about to be determined. It was a relative victory for Liverpool, who are 12 points clear at the top of the table and, after Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Wednesday, know that just one more point will be enough to finish the job against Tottenham Hotspur.
Arne Slot will become the first Dutchman to win the Premier League title, while he will become the fifth manager to win the Premier League in his first season after Jose Mourinho (2004-05), Carlo Ancelotti (2009-10), Manuel Pellegrini (2013-14) and Antonio Conte (2016-17).
Only a loss for the home team would postpone the seemingly inevitable, and Liverpool have only lost two league games this season. Their first loss was at home to Nottingham Forest in September, while their second was to Fulham earlier this month. Even with the recent loss at Craven Cottage, the Reds can consider themselves somewhat unlucky - with an expected goal difference of 1.5 compared to their opponents' expected goal difference of 0.74.
Sloter is averaging 2.39 points per game in the league this season. To put that in perspective, only three of Jürgen Klopp's eight full seasons in charge have Liverpool averaged more points per game than Sloter's Reds - the 2018-19 season (2.55), the 2019-20 season (2.60) and the 2021-22 season (2.42).
With five games remaining, Liverpool have already won as many Premier League matches this season as they did last season (24), and a win would see them equal last season's points tally (82) with four games to go.
They would also become the seventh team to win a championship with four or more games remaining.
Liverpool have scored at least one goal in each of their last 29 Premier League matches since losing 1-0 to Forest at Anfield in September. It is the second-longest winning streak in a single season behind Arsenal, who have scored in all 38 of their games in the 2001-02 season.
While the Reds are on their way to glory, it's been a very different story for Tottenham this season.
Angie Postecoglou optimistically promises to win a trophy this season, and while that could still happen - Spurs have reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League - his side are 16th in the league. They are in no danger of relegation, but that says more about the lack of strength in the bottom three than it does about Spurs, who have just 37 points from 33 games so far.
They have lost 18 Premier League games this season, only losing more in the 1993-94 and 2003-04 seasons (19 in both). Their worst finish in the competition was 15th, so Spurs could at least equal that, if not set a new record low altogether.
Tottenham Hotspur are 42 points behind Liverpool (79) in this competition. It is the second most points they have trailed an opponent in the Premier League - they were 43 points behind Arsenal when they met at White Hart Lane in April 2004, the day the Gunners beat Arsenal to secure the title.
One hope Tottenham may have is Richarlison, who scored in Monday's 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest. The Brazilian has scored in four of his last five Premier League games (four goals), although Spurs have still lost all four. In fact, only Wolves star Mathews Cunha (5) has conceded more goals than Richarlison this season. The former Everton player also scored four league goals against the Reds.

At the other end of the spectrum, however, Mohamed Salah has scored 15 goals against Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions and has only scored more goals against Manchester United (16) in his European club career. Eleven of those 15 goals have come in the Premier League, with only Alan Shearer (14) scoring more against Spurs.
The Egyptian remains the Premier League's top scorer with 27 goals this season, although he has gone four league matches without a goal, having not gone two consecutive matches without a goal in the 2024-25 season. Salah will no doubt be keen to end that drought on Sunday as Liverpool aim to lock up the Premier League title on their home turf.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs have conceded 10 goals against Liverpool this season, losing 6-3 in the Premier League and 0-4 in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final (won 1-0 in the first leg).
The last time they conceded more goals against an opponent was in the 2013-14 season (11 against Manchester City), while the most they have conceded was 14 (against Chelsea in the 2001-02 season).
Tottenham Hotspur have won just two of their last 24 Premier League games against Liverpool (D6 L16) and both have come at home. They have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 18 games against the Reds.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 15 home games against Tottenham Hotspur (W11 D4), winning the last three while scoring four goals each time.
