- The Reds will secure the Premier League title with a win if Arsenal lose to Ipswich Town earlier on Sunday.
- Leicester City will be relegated if they lose, and they will be hoping to avoid becoming the first team in top-flight history to go nine consecutive home games without scoring.
The inevitable return to the Championship for Leicester City could be coming soon. The Foxes need a win to avoid relegation on Matchday 33, so this is not the ideal time to face Premier League leaders Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.
While Leicester City are destined for the second tier, the Reds are closing in on their 20th English top-flight title. Indeed, if Arsenal had lost to Ipswich Town earlier on Sunday, Arne Slaughter's side would have triumphed here to win the title.
It will be the sixth time a team has won the top-flight title with five games left to play, a competition record for Liverpool in 2019-20, who last won the title with seven games left to play.
And it's hard to see Leicester City breaking the odds here.
Ruud van Nistelrooy's side have lost their last eight Premier League home games without scoring, a record in the history of England's top flight. Only six teams have lost nine consecutive home games in the top flight, most recently Southampton between November and March this season.
Leicester City at least ended their eight-game losing streak and goalless streak in the Premier League when they last drew 2-2 at Brighton & Hove Albion. It was the first time Leicester City scored or avoided defeat in the top flight since a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on January 26th.
Leicester City are hoping to avoid becoming the first team in the history of the top flight to go nine consecutive home games without scoring. Of all the leagues in the English Football League, only Mansfield Town (nine times in the Third Division between August and December 1971) and Wolves (10 times in the Second Division between December 1984 and April 1985) have achieved this unwelcome feat.
But will Leicester City have an Easter present?
Well, the omens are not good. Leicester City lost both league games played on Easter Sunday, 0-3 to West Ham United in League Two in 1993 and 1-2 to Newcastle in the Premier League in 2022.
On the other hand, Liverpool have lost just one of their 10 league games (W7 D2) played on Easter Sunday, when they were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United in 2008.
They will be the second team (behind Arsenal) to play on Easter Sunday in three consecutive years, having drawn 2-2 with the Gunners in 2023 and beaten Brighton 2-1 last year.
Of course, Mohamed Salah has been the driving force behind Liverpool's fantastic league campaign.
Salah has scored in all five of Liverpool's Premier League games against promoted clubs this season (seven goals). No player in the history of the competition has scored in six games against a promoted club in a season.
The Egyptian has been involved in 45 Premier League goals this season (27 goals, 18 assists), a record of 38 games. The all-time record for the tournament is 47, set by Andrew Cole in the 1993-94 season and Alan Shearer in the 1994-95 season (both 34 goals, 13 assists), which came in a 42-game season.

If Salah scores on Sunday, he will also set a single-season record for away goals. He currently shares the record with Kevin Phillips (1999-2000) and Harry Kane (2022-23) with 16. With another away assist, Salah will also have the most away assists in the Premier League in a single season, surpassing Cesc Fabregas' 11 in 2014-15.
Liverpool are celebrating the news that captain Virgil van Dyk has followed Salah in committing for the Merseyside club for the next two years.
While there is no word yet on the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Sloter told a press conference on Friday that his vice-captain is back from injury and could be in the big squad against Leicester City, although he is not yet ready to start.

Liverpool came back to win 3-1 in December. Jordan Ayew helped Leicester City take the lead at Anfield, but Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones and Salah turned it around for the hosts.
