Micro-blog (Micro-blog) refers to a kind of broadcasting social media, network platform based on user relationship information sharing, dissemination and access to share short real-time information through the attention mechanism.

Microblog allows users to instantly share and disseminate information interactively through Web, Wap, Mail, App, IM, SMS as well as various mobile terminals that users can access through PCs, cell phones and other mobile terminals, in the form of multimedia such as text, pictures and videos.

In August 2009, Sina launched the beta version of Sina Weibo, becoming the first portal website to provide microblogging services. Weibo also includes Tencent Weibo and NetEase Weibo. However, if not specified, microblogging refers to Sina Weibo.

On the evening of March 27, 2014, Sina Weibo, a leading microblogging company in China, announced that it had changed its name to "Weibo" and launched a new logo, with Sina's colors gradually fading.

On August 8, 2018, Weibo won the Golden Luck Award for Best Effective Operation of the Year.
